The Doo Wops
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We were lucky to get the commitment of incredible players to
make this project a success. All of them got their start somewhere
along the line in Doo Wop. Just look at the lineup:
- Jim Christie - Drums
Jim played with Dwight Yokum and is currently with Lucinda
Williams.
- Lee Rollag - Guitar
Lee played with Roger Miller.
- Steve Nelson - Standup and Fender Bass
Steve played with Captain and Tenille and is currently a sound
designer for major motion pictures with Soundstorm in Burbank,
California.
- Craig Thomas - Sax and Second Tenor Vocal
Craig played sax and sang with the likes of Jim Messina, Tom
Jones, Christopher Cross, Jermaine Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Aretha
Franklin, Captain and Tennille, Kathy Sledge, and Clarence Clemons.
- Tom Alvarado - Sax and First Tenor Vocals
Tom toured with Joe Cocker, Barry White, and Frankie Valle
and The Four Seasons. Tom's current group has become legendary
in Las Vegas, where he sings sweet and plays really cool sax.
- George Ball - Bass Vocals
George is a highly recognized stage actor and hails from his
own musically accomplished family. His wife is the talented Amanda
McBroom, cabaret singer, and songwriter of the international hit,
"The Rose."
This project would never have gotten off the ground had it not
been for my partner and co-producer Ken Stange. Ken, is a
musical genius in his own right. As musical director and keyboard
player for several of Joe Cocker's world tours, Ken brought the
experience and discipline to get the most out of our players. He
also played with Roger Miller and is currently the keyboard player
and a background singer with Dennis Quaid (one of Hollywood's best
actors) and the Sharks. As our musical director, Ken was responsible
for all of the arrangements, and also played piano, organ and sang
baritone background on all of the tunes. Ken is a true master, a
real Renaissance man!
Special thanks also go to Richard Fowle. Richard provided
the creative engineering talent at Audio International Studios in
Ojai, California, where we recorded this album.
